Audiences of Toxic Entertainment
Audiences of Toxic Entertainment is my primary PhD Project
Audiences of Toxic Entertainment is a project under the Erasmus University
Rotterdam.

Its goal is to research the consumption, reasons for use, and effects of Toxic
Entertainment on social media short videos on YouTube. Conceptualizing a model
of Tocix Entertainment to understand how hedonic (entertainment) and eudemonic
(meaningful) messages work in synergy to normalize and empower toxic (symbolically violent) components through discourse (persuasive tactics).

The angle is from masculinity content, manosphere, and manfluencer content, with a mixed-method research design including qualitative content analysis, interviews, and a longitudinal experiment to test an intervention to increase well-being responses.
